Problem: How to Maintain Voice and Tone in the Face of Community Generated UGC?
Badge Issuer
- We can't be the Apple store
- Provide extra attention to people who do it well
- Badge Hall of Fame?
- Maintain influence by tapping people's laziness--provide them tools and templates that will keep voice & tone consistent
- Provide guidelines for badge creators *in line* as they create them
- Maybe "Before you hit publish, these are the 5 things you should pay attention to"
Badges that are retired
- Don't gray these out--let people keep them
- Time stamp them or visually mark the "class year" in some way
- ie a colored ring around the badge to mark when it was issued
Different Types of Badges
- get more accurate about naming: a "project badge" instead of a "skill badge"
- communicate the difference between the different types well
- show users a way to access the story behind the badge logic
- iterate the complexity out of the badge system
What Would a "School of Content Strategy" look like?
- A discipline with 2-3 "tracks"
- Does Content Strategy lend itself to this model?
