- Probably hear by January
- Studies of new badge system after January
Ideas:
- Creating P2PU Course on "Working with Data on P2PU"
- In a community-based assessment platform, the values of the community is what is assessed.
- To what extent do badges reflect our values?
- Badges that promote social mechnanisms - openness, peer learning etc. Do these badges communicate and influence community members?
- Badges are positive feedback affordances -- should there be negative feedback mechanisms?
- Longevity of Badges - do the design, intent, institutional context of badges influence whether people engage or pursue the badge
- Right now, people do things for the badge (it's clearly in the front), people will engage learning activity/challenge and expect to get feedback (the badge emerges from the types of feedback you get)
Recent Grant
P2PU server data and creating open data sets that people can do quant. analysis of.
Grant idea: building off of the server data.
Capture badge activity
Make it possible to see badge activity
- capture who is creating badges?
- quality
- learning assessment
- how does that all play out in a learning environment
- do badges influence the engagement that people have
- capture when badges appear
- able to look quant. do people engage more afterwards (how long)
