Peer-to-Peer University, in collaboration with the Mozilla Foundation, is looking for a python developer to help customize an OSQA server.
Update: Started to map out more detailed feature requests below ... (PS)
Background:
We are using OSQA for two purposes
- A platform for peer assessment that lets us issue badges (to indicate learning achivements) for participants in P2PU courses
- A community question and answer forum for P2PU users
- We are looking for a developer to quickly come on board and help with the customization and optimization of the environment.
- Delivery time is challenging - we are looking to launch the next round of courses in late January 2011.
This would be a short but jet-fueled project, with a potential opportunity to grow into a more strategic role within P2PU and School of Webcraft.
Responsibilities:
- Lead development and customization of the P2PU OSQA environment
- Work with the SoW team to ensure their initial community forum needs are met
- Work with the Badge team to support assessments and badge issuing
- Work with the Badge Infrastructure team to fit OSQA badges into the broader badge infrastructure
- Launch the site with the necessary implementations by the end of January 2011
Experience / Skills / Background:
- Experience with Python / Django
- Experience with OSQA environment
- Good communications skills - ability to work well with various teams to understand requirements
- Willingness to jump in and hit the ground running
- Proven ability to deliver on time

Features:
(Important level: 1 = low, 3 = high)
- Add specific badges / assessment features (Erin to add)
- (3) Enable School of Webcraft community discussion (using tag webcraft as organizer).
- (1) Enable grouping of questions / answers by course (using tags)
- We have to think about this more, but it would be nice if course organizers had a simple way of setting up a discussion space for their courses (where only course related questions are listed).
