  • Presented at DML in Irvine last week
  • Badges UX Complete--reviewing with devs this afternoon

  • Keynote at Colaboratory Event in Berlin (Hertie School of Governance)

    • Multi-stakeholder working groups (a bunch of people form govt,academics, etc) who then lobby govt and industry to do stuff. 
    • Philipp gave closing keynote, and got to hang out with German government people 
    • talked about potentials of using tech in a more open source web way, and how more people should be experimenting. 
    • Discussion in Germany seems to be about quality and cost of OER, which seems to be less the case in the US
      • VMG: there seems to be a second wave of this discussion in the US
      • PK: Depending on the people who are doing it, different people are using Coursera differently, and UM isn't spending anything like that. 
  • Learning Creative Learning course sign-up is open (and sign-ups are coming in) - http://learn.media.mit.edu

    • 4000 visits yesterday (most daily visits of any mechanical mooc course so far, even more than after NYT article)
    • Interesting that Facebook has been main driver / traffic source

    • We will release the new course UX on saturday becuase some other stuff will be happening
  • Fix email problems for Media Lab course (Important)
  • Get the badges dev team hired (both short-term and long-term)

  • Research projects: what's our take on posting research that's in process/yet to be accepted?
    • BK: Depends on the researchers, great if the researcher want to!
    • NS: Authors can publish preprints, so if they can do that, then why not use our community as an informal preer review

Seems to be an issue with today's newsletter--I received it twice and both times it was blank?

• That is odd - anyone else have that problem?-->Was just on mobile, it did not display! Poo! Hmm, balls. I tested it for mobile, but will double check. 
• I got it twice, because I'm subscribed with two email addresses - and both showed up fine - laptop/OSX though
