Discussion
Data Policy
- Draft data policy for adoption by P2PU
- The goals for this call:
- Review and discuss the data policy (raise any questions, objections)
- Note any changes required before we submit to the board (-> approve the policy)
- Note: the draft policy does not make a recommendation for a data licence. If we want to have a seperate data licence, we need to decide which one to choose. -> propse this as a seperate conversation - BK
- Suggested background reading:
- Questions to consider (via Jane)
- Are these raw data dumps, or will there be some interpretation/reporting/shaping around the data releases?
- Does it matter to us to release the data on the same terms (as much as possible) in all jurisdictions?
- Is it important to us that we are attributed for our data? If yes, is it important enough to make this a legal requirement versus a request to notify us when people use our data and for what?
- What is the difference between the privacy and other laws governing data versus the copyright law governing sharing of data? (Copyright licenses, like CC licenses, only govern the copyright and related rights in terms of legal sharing of data. So any other policies around sharing of data would apply separate from the copyright license.)
- Suggestion (via Bekka)
- If needed, we should try a virtual spectogram
