New Staff Onboarding Process
Current P2PU staffers will:
- Give you an @p2pu.org mailing address
- (If applicable) - Give you the twitter username/password
- Will point you to the places where:
- discussions happen: lists.p2pu.org
- people hang out: IRC/gchat
- users get help: help.p2pu.org
- Will introduce you to staff you haven't met yet (http://pad.p2pu.org/p/community-responsibilities):

In your first week at P2PU:
- Brush up your profile at p2pu.org
- Join the following P2PU mailing lists
(lists.p2pu.org) - Send introduction to the community list
- Get added to the people page on info.p2pu.org (point of contact: Bekka)
- photo that catches your whole face without cutting you off
- looking mostly at the camera would be best
- 500 x 500px is large enough, a bit smaller could be ok too
- background shouldn't be too noisy, either a plain background or something that was on purpose (ie not your kitchen)
- Check out the TRELLO boards for dev projects and org work
- Create a persoal work board on TRELLO
- Join the community call - http://pad.p2pu.org/community-call
- First week we will do intros with everyone on the call (see Chloe's comment below)
- Add your schedule to the P2PU calendar
- Acquaint with P2PU etherpad search: http://padsearch.p2pu.org
- We LOVE etherpads for planning and collaborative note taking
- Speak to Bekka about setting up your banking details in our electronic banking system and our payment cycles (if you're a contractor)
In the first month:
- Participate in a P2PU course
- Join the community calls: http://pad.p2pu.org/community-call [moved this to first week]
- Write a post for the P2PU blog about your work
- Get an idea of some of our (sometimes unusual) processes - ie: the "rough consensus" idea for making decisions among the community
- [Chloe] Adding these below based on my own experience joining p2pu and things I would have liked to know :)
- Get to know who is who and what is everyone's roles, round of introduction in community call could be welcoming instead of just sitting and listening.
- Become familiar with p2pu sharing of work process, i.e. sharing with community etc
- Skype names/ IRC hang outs for everyone
