Introduction to Philosophy:
Course Description:
An introduction to Philosophy through the practice of questioning, reflection & diaolouge.
Possible topics:
- What is Art?
- What is the Good?
- Appearance & Reality
- Sexual & Relatonal Ethics
- Survey peers for topics for last few meetings
Format:
- Work through some texts, offer help pro-actively & during set "office hours"
- Use online meetings to talk about texts
- Use online meetings to try and practice answering some philosophical questions
- Final project: short paper on a topic, distribute to other peers, use last meeting as a discussion on short paper topic
- Try to meet once a week via skype or web-conf
- Try to match texts to what can be reasonably done in a week
Questions:
- How much to try and do in a week?
- If going for 12 weeks, then maybe one topic for 2 weeks? Don't want to bore, but don't want to overwork. Follow-up with people more in the know.
- How to offer feedback & help without being overwhelming.
- Who is this course for? Absolute beginners with advanced students might be a problem. Need to check how other people handle this.

- Talk it up on meetup reading group. Investigate if I can send info to other philosophy meetup groups.
- Twitter/Blog
- NYC pretty covered, need to figure out getting word out outside of NYC
