How do we collaborate on learnin "design" (taking into account existing research and practice for struring great online learning experiences)?
- Share drafts early - google doc
- Feedback and revision - on P2PU.org
Bigger questions:
- Build in p2pu.org/lernanta or push out (API/widgets)?
Navigability *within* a challenge - the current layout makes it difficult to spot the individual tasks that make up a challenge (hidden in a drop down menu)
TODO:
- Consider input and make it easier to navigate within course. Increase user's awareness of overall course structure.
- As part of course / challenge unification, we are considering what UX elements to show when inside a course, e.g. planning to hide course description
Navigability between challenges - there isn't a beautiful / intuitive way to get an overview of all the different possible challenges, or move smoothly from one to another
- we'd like to better understand the use case (is the goal to improve marketing or do you expect users to jump between challenges constantly)
- school page can be used to list all courses https://p2pu.org/en/schools/school-of-data/
- challenge sets can be used to group challenges - https://p2pu.org/en/schools/school-of-webcraft/
- currently we also support definition of "related challenges" within a challenge, but new UX will not have that anymore
- question: how do you "cluster" courses around skills without becoming top-down / prescriptive
- another option is to push display to http://schoolofdata.org instead
TODO:
- after completion of a course, suggest the next course to take
- in current challenge UX, you can specify "next challenge" to take
Knowledge Map
- Create a map of all courses and how they map into the skills matrix
TODO:
Functionality for interactive tasks - from simple little quizzes to (optimally) the ability to play with graphs / spreadsheets within a challenge.
- -we'd like to better understand the quizzes / what's the theory of learning behind asking users to complete quizzes?
- quizzes are good at leading to the "right" answers
- there are lots of external tools that can be embedded (iframe) we only support embed.ly atm. (but we can allow power users to embed iframes)
- there is no easy path for integrating quizzes more deeply (in a way that affects badges, challenge behavior)
Better facilities for discussion. Currently 'discussion' is presented more like comments on a blog post.
- what other discussion features are needed? live chat? SPAM moderation?
- keeping an eye on other projects (jeff attwell)
- considering disqus
- worth checking john's etherpad prototype (with twitter integration)
More ways to share on social media.
- already in UX mockups
- lots of demand for this
- we know we NEED a better way to share courses and invite people
- any specific input?
Schools with a wordpress theme?
An attractive way to run all of the schools
Display your badges in wordpress
* Visual identity & consistency of experience. We want the School of Data to be a 'brand', and at the moment that isn't really possible.
- we can already control look & feel through custom CSS
- is the problem the look & feel of the "school's" landing page on P2PU
OR
- the look & feel of the individual course a user would take on P2PU
- how about sharing a course between multiple schools?
