P2PU Platform Lead
We need more leadership on making the overall experience for users on the P2PU site excellent.
P2PU is looking for someone who understands and is responsive to our users' needs and who can make their experience as good as possible. The role involves designing new features (and improving existing ones), working with the development lead to implement them, and tracking their impact on overall user engagement. And making sure that all users get the support and help they need. This role has a strong focus on metrics, both identifying the key metrics, and finding ways to track them. The ideal candidates has a solid understanding of UX best practices, including metrics-driven design, and general web development. An ability to jump in and help with small coding tasks is a plus. We are looking for an excellent communicator and collaborator, who can connect to the the community and our partners, and understands how this work supports the overall goals of P2PU.
Main responsibilities:
- Make a difference -- Wake up in the morning and worry about making the P2PU web-site and learning experience better. Own the user experience related to all learning activities, such as study groups/courses, and schools.
- Support users and schools
- Create an engagement ladder that offers access points for users at different levels and draws them into the P2PU learning community
- Create wireframes and funcational design specifications for new features
- Manage the implementation, testing, and support of all aspects of the user experience
- Act as main point of contact for Schools leads and build the features that they need
- Grow overall number of users, and size of schools
- Put in place support mechanisms to make sure all users always get the help they need.
- Use Metrics -- Define, measure and track the specific goals for the learning product (users, courses/groups, and schools) as part of overall goals and success measures for P2PU.
- Gather data on user experience through surveys, and analytics, and implement changes that are evidence- and data-driven
- Work as part of the P2PU community - Identify and support potential leaders in the P2PU volunteer community; involve these leaders in design, decision-making, and implementation; work "openly", share drafts with the broader P2PU community and gather feedback
- Own the relationship with users - Make users love P2PU, proud to be part of the community, happy with their interactions with P2PU. Make sure all communication is polished and leave the user feeling good to be a part of P2PU.
- Keep an eye on the field -- Follow similar and related projects, learn from others' experiments, bring new ideas into P2PU, and develop working relationships with potential partners. Share out through regular blog posts, and speaking engagements at conferences and meeting
- Think strategically -- Work closely with P2PU ED to identify opportunities for monetization of P2PU services, such as offering the P2PU platform as a fee-based service to other organizations, etc.
Logistics
- Initial 1 year contract
- Reports to P2PU Executive Director
- Works closely with other P2PU "Lead" positions as part of an integrated team
