- After creating the course, t link to "Leave Course" at the bottom is very visible, because there isn't any content yet. That's confusing to a new course organizer. For course organizers I think we shold move that functionality into the admin page (they can still leave the course, but it's complicated)
- Readability: Given that reading text is the main activity, I think we should consider improving readability by increasing contrast (darker fonts, lighter background) and consider increasing the font size
- Main navigation - Switching between "content" and "home" views is still confusing
- I discussed this with a UX designer at the Media Lab and she recommended:
- Show all the navigation options all the time
- Top nav bar for "about, discussion, etc." and sidebar for content
- Currently the tabs indicate where you are. She felt it was ok to do that through page titles for the first iteration.
- Dont' use twitter bootstrap tabs (at least for first iteration) but rather make all navigation tags, individual pages
- As courses grow, the content on the discussion and people tabs might get quite heavy and make loading everything together slow
- It's important that you can directly address all the relevant sections in the course
- I also looked at other examples. Skillshare: http://cl.ly/image/1M352f224343
- Just left and right arrows to go backwards and forward
- I really don't like this, I don't get a sense of location within the larger content structure
- On the course home page, it's not obvious how to add another page (maybe add a + sign in the Navigation section on the left)
- When viewing a content page, there is no edit button. Required to go back to course/home view to find edit button for content pages.
- (I think this was fixed?) When in "home" UX, the content nav section drops too far down. It's better in the "content" UX
- Make link to Markdown page open in new window/tab
- (I think this was fixed?) There are now three different versions of the left nav bar (maybe for testing?)
- Home UX, Content UX, Content Editing UX
- Currently content titles can be veeeererrrryyyy long. I think it's fine to put a hard stop at x character limit.
* at http://alpha.p2pu.org/en/groups/featured/community/ you should be able to find out more about a School via a link to its landing page.
* If "Start Course" is going to a login, then there should be a note right underneath that clarifies anyone can navigate/access all course contents without having to sign up/login. Or "Start Course" should take to the first part, Introductions, with a pop up prompting you to login/sign up, but that you can do away with.
* no place anymore for a little summary blurb? I think that's pretty important to have to give people an idea of whether they want to take the course. Or is that the intro?
* summary space is also important for things like image attribution, eg. https://p2pu.org/en/groups/get-cc-savvy/
* I see that comments are via disqus? does that mean anyone will be able to comment, even without logging in?
* important - what about ability to show this course has been reviewed/approved (eg. give 5 stars) by X? or branded as being created/sponsored by X organization?
