AGENDA
Each session has three outputs:
- Things we built/resolved/agreed during the session (e.g. wireframes, draft policies, etc.)
- A plan (next steps, who does what, milestones with dates)
- An owner = the person who makes sure things move forward (doesn't mean they have to do all the work, doesn't mean they make all the decisions - working with community)

=== NOT DISCUSSED (not enough time) ===
NOT DISCUSSED13 Assessment at P2PU
Add your name if you want to work on this: zuzel, pippa Niels
- People: Chloe
- Share and discuss design guidelines, draft here http://bit.ly/qeTQr2
- Hands on work on new features for assessment in p2pu
- Comment: would be interested to see how version controls and review mechanisms could be used to cooperatively build better assessments. eg. how could a git style system be used to manage crowdsourced assessments? I think this would be a really interesting space for P2PU to explore.+
- LINKS TO POSTS here: assessment from the POV of a designer;social http://bit.ly/vloJcH creative & dynamic http://bit.ly/uL2B4C & personal http://bit.ly/vnbhoG
NOT DISCUSSED INSTEAD CHALLENGES 101 14 Badges 101
Add your name if you want to work on this: zuzel
- People: Chloe
- Go through the webmaking 101 badges interface, test it and give feedback- what works, what is confusing? what can we improve? how can we improve it
- Hands on hacking of the badges interface
NOT DISCUSSED 2 - P2PU the Lab
Add your name if you want to work on this: Stian, Nadeem, Neeru
- Might need P2PU (tech) vision session first - unless everyone happy with lab focus
- What does the technology platform of a lab look like?
- What are interfaces / hooks for people to experiment on top of a stable, clean production server?
- Comment: Not sure what this session is about
- Question - Is P2PU the Lab a technical space or a space for learning experiments - this sounds very tech focused as opposed to the tech responding to the types of experiments people may want to make? - Would be happy to input on this if it is more about the ways of doing (not the technology reqd.) (PB)
- eg. I'd love more support for Big Blue Button to play with online facilitation techniques...
- I don't know how this would work technically, but I'd be interested in talking about how we could make it easier for people to experiment with different ways of learning/teaching on P2PU - APIs, small "apps", etc.
NOT DISCUSSED 4 - P2PU Fellows [Bekka]
Add your name if you want to work on this: alison, Nadeem,Dany
- Recognizing volunteer contributions
- Giving volunteers a "role"
- What are expectations attached to fellows?
- Fellow for life, or rotating?
- p2pu ambassador program?
- demonstrated community participation
- ran events
- familiar with staff/community
- intern positions (unpaid)
- developers
- social media
- course creators
- Comments: Similar to "Increase volunteer contributions to dev" but for non-dev contributors?
NOT DISCUSSED 5 - Schools
Add your name if you want to work on this: zuzel, alison, Nadeem, Delia
- What's the relationship between P2PU and Schools (and esp. School of Webcraft)?
- Are we serving the communities better by supporting them separately or as one? What's better for our users?
- Can P2PU be a platform for many smaller schools?
- How can build out a stronger identity for Schools that get "too large"?
P2PU & CC "School of Open" (Jane)- School of Gamecraft
- Comment: Maybe smaller groupings of "topics" aren't schools... yet - what tools do these sub-communities need to share ideas? - eg harnessing tags etc
NOT DISCUSSED 7 - F2FU Face 2 Face University [?]
Add your name if you want to work on this: Alan
- Do something like Goddard College - Face to face seminars?
- See the above proposal. A model we're going to try is to recruit student leaders on Ashoka U campuses as "local hosts" for organizing F2F groups.
- Comment: Maybe better to phrase this as - How can P2PU be used as a mechanism for learners meeting AND learning face to face - either regularly and locally or to organise seminar weeks/ "camps" etc for specific topics? PB
8 - Global Meet-ups [?] / Local Community Outreach (John, Jane)
Add your name if you want to work on this:chloe, pippa, alan,Dany
- Build a happy global P2PU community
- Could be linked to above session on F2FU
- Comment: maybe is necessary to define a structure of community(organization chart,roles..)
existing local communities:
- portland a
- colombia, university, open technology communities (events: free software day, campus party, web developers)
- staying in contact: skype, learning group at university under another name, social networks (ie. unix, calibre)
existing tools to enable local communities (currently geared towards events):
ideas
- local community model (look at open source community for an example)
Global P2PU day
- publicity blitz
- annual fundraising campaign
- kickstarter
- one person in each city to take responsibilty for each event
- enable with a toolkit (ie. CC salon kit)
- goal - 50 organizers?
- ee
- content: crowd-source stuff for media, etc.
- get an organizational structure out of it
- tshirts, stickers
- good for engaging staff (practice what we preach), community
Action items
- list of events per domain and generally p2pu should be at, look at wiki and add to gcalendar (JP + staff)
- toolkit to enable local meetups (howto) (JP, JB)
- global p2pu day in spring, each staff member runs an event (April 14 tentative) - float idea with community (Dany) - link to open education week
- check on the trademark issue local community (DB)
NOT DISCUSSED 12 Mentorship at P2PU (not just webcraft)
Add your name if you want to work on this: zuzel, Niels
- People: John & Chloe
- How do we ensure quality
- Sustainability
- Pairing
- Comment: developing resources to help both mentors and learners paired with mentors - eg. sample social contracts between the mentor / mentee, how to be a good mentor, how to make the best out of your mentoring relationship - PB.
- Can be closely related to the community organization
NOT DISCUSSED 15 - Breaking the Community (could be tied to Schools discussion) - Bekka
Add your name if you want to work on this: Pippa
- How do we avoid sub-projets splitting the community
- P2PU - not a franchise but a happy family of restuarants
NOT DISCUSSED 16 - Lighthouse Archaeology
Add your name if you want to work on this: zuzel, alison,Stian, Nadeem
- People: John & Zuzel (zuzel volunteered john for this)
- Goal: Plan low level roadmap based on open tickets in lighthouse
- Find out tickets we have forgotten and give feedback to tickets that matter to you
- Assign priorities and milestones
- Get a better idea of what it is still todo
- Decide on controversial features
NOT DISCUSSED 17 - Increase volunteer contributions to dev [Zuzel]
Add your name if you want to work on this: zuzel, Nadeem
- How can we get more people involved in development work?
- Knowing where things are going is useful to volunteers (connected to above)
- Rewaring people for their contributions (important!)
- Make the start as easy as possible (documentation + interaction with others)
- How do we keep people engage and happy?

Miscellaneous Notes:
*P2PU - Make smart choices
*Community/P2PU as a social equalizer. ie. when you walk into any other environment that is not a learning environment, there are automatic assumptions and judgments made. imagine walking into a bar, into a company interview, into a party. there are social proclivities that automatically get manifested in certain behaviors that may isolate or polarize. in a learning environment, such as within a university lecture hall, people enter on the same footing, and stereotypes/preconceptions/beliefs are suspended for a time. how to translate to online environemnt/how to express that this is a benefit of P2PU?
